Women’s Program Update

The women’s season has come to a close. After a hard fought battle against UBC, our only team in playoffs has taken a loss in Quarter finals.
It has been an incredible season of growth, wether it be fielding two teams and welcoming some OG players back, adding more coaches to our roster, gelling and supporting each other like never before, and bringing in new sharks to the family. It has been a season to remember.
The women would like to thank everyone who has supported them this year, from near and far.
We our looking expand our roster the next season, anyone interested can contact Chantalle Bracken at Chantalle.bracken13@gmail.com

Men’s Program Update

The Bayside Senior Men’s season is beginning to come to a
close. Our Division 3 squad wrapped up over the weekend with an
impressive 62-24 victory over our friends from Meraloma RFC and our
Division 1 team fighting for a spot in the playoffs in a crossover
matchup with the UBC Old Boys Ravens. The group is looking for some
revenge having lost to this team in the Division 1 final of last years
BC Club Rugby Championships. Win or lose, our senior men’s group has a
lot to be proud of as a whole for this season. We overcame low
registration numbers early on to having over 50 men’s players signed
up by season end. Division 1 overcame early season losses to then turn
around and put together winning streaks to fight into the playoff
picture. In closing, we want to thank the support of our coaching,
management, and medical staff. Along with the collaboration and support
of the Senior Women, SOBs and Junior Program.

We look ahead to Bayside RFC once again hosting the BC Club
Finals at our facilities and our Senior groups coming out in numbers to
support, volunteer and cheer on the sport of rugby!

Masters Program Update

The SOB’s (Semiahmoo Old Boys) have two games remaining in their season after two recent hard fought battles. Coming off a 7-0 home victory over the EBB tide from Victoria, the SOB’s face Kelowna’s Priest Valley Vicars Saturday April 22nd with a 1 pm Kick off at the Sullivan fields in Surrey (Hosted by the Surrey Beavers). A Cloverdale pub crawl is planned afterwards with the Beavers clubhouse being the first location.

On April 29th the SOB’s will help host the BC Club Rugby Finals at our home fields. Sure to be a massive rugby day at Bayside. Be sure to come out to watch some top rugby in the province.  The SOB’s, take a ferry ride to Nanaimo on Sunday, April 30th for a game against Nookie Wood for the final game of the season.

Rugby League season starts off May 3rd at 7pm every Wednesday as the SOBs, who whole heartedly agree that rugby should be played year round, start the first Masters Rugby League team in BC. If interested contact Keller Reeves or Jason Rosette via pm or email into Masters@RugbyleagueBC.ca

Mini Rugby Program Update

Mini Shark season is well underway. The minis have been working hard at practice since February, and now have seen their hard work pay off at three jamboree days around the lower mainland. They are quickly learning that All Weather is Rugby Weather, and we’re all looking forward to the sunny Spring days ahead.

This year, together with our Old Boys, we held our first ever Mini Rugby Easter Egg Hunt. For many mini players & parents it was a first opportunity to come in and check out the new clubhouse, and the kids had a great time searching for eggs around the building.

Bayside is hosting our own Mini Rugby Jamboree on Sunday, May 7, 2023. We will have visiting clubs from around the Fraser Valley bring their Minis and U14s to our fields & clubhouse for an awesome morning of rugby. We need many volunteers to make this type of event happen. Please sign-up here to help out: https://volunteersignup.org/Y9KRL

We would like to send a special shout of thanks out to all of the big kids from our Junior division who have stepped up to help coach the minis this spring. They have amazing dedication to come out on weeknights before and after their own practices, and get up early to come out Sunday mornings! Thank you!

Junior Program Update

The Junior U18 Boys Travelled to Ireland March 14th-24th. Thank you to all the people who contributed to make it a memorable trip for the boys. The Boys represented Bayside well winning 1 of the 3 games that they played while in Ireland. They visited Belfast, Dublin, Galway, Cork on their travels. Thank you again to all our Sponsors and volunteers.

Bayside RFC is excited to roll out its Touch Rugby League for Summer 2022. The Summer Touch Rugby League will offer players of all skill levels and genders a fast-paced game of touch rugby to develop skills, build on fitness and continue to evolve as Rugby Players.

This isn’t just a game of touch before practice.  The program will use international touch rules and feature set teams, rolling subs, and everything else a proper league should have!

The mission of this program is to:

– To include all skill levels, ages, and genders opportunities to play alongside each other.

– To attract new players (touch or contact), social members, and supporters and build a rugby community of fun, fitness, and friendship.

– To offer a proper touch rugby product that is more than just a pre-practice warmup game

– To foster the values and camaraderie that rugby is synonymous with a non-contact, safe, and fun version of the sport.
