  • Integrity: Players and coaches must uphold integrity in all actions, both on and off the field. Fair play, honesty, and sportsmanship must always come first.
  • Behavior: Negative behavior such as bullying, verbal abuse, physical aggression, or unsporting conduct will not be tolerated. Any individual who engages in such behavior will be subject to disciplinary action.

  • Welcoming Environment: The club is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone. Rugby is for all, and we encourage people of all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences to be part of our club.
  • Equal Opportunity: All players, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or ability, will be given equal opportunity to participate, improve, and contribute to the club.
  • Encourage Diversity: Coaches and club members are expected to encourage diversity in rugby, respecting individual differences and promoting unity within the team.
3. Player Safety
  • Player Welfare First: Player safety is our top priority. All coaches must ensure that training sessions are safe and age-appropriate. This includes ensuring that players are aware of the risks involved in rugby and are provided with the proper safety equipment.
  • Concussion Protocol: Coaches will be trained in concussion awareness, and any player suspected of having a concussion will be removed from play and will not return until cleared by a medical professional.
  • Injury Prevention: Regular warm-ups and cool-downs are mandatory. Coaches should incorporate injury-prevention exercises and ensure proper techniques are taught to avoid unnecessary injuries.
  • First Aid: Coaches should always have access to a first aid kit and be familiar with basic first aid procedures. There will be designated first aid officers at all matches and training sessions.
4. Keeping the Clubhouse and Changing Rooms Clean
  • Personal Responsibility: Players, coaches, and parents are expected to take responsibility for the cleanliness of the clubhouse and changing rooms. Everyone should clean up after themselves and help maintain the facility.
  • Respect for Facilities: Coaches should ensure players respect the property and facilities. Any damage caused due to irresponsible behavior will be addressed, and the responsible individual will be held accountable.
  • Team Clean-Up: At the end of every training session or match, players will work together to clean up the clubhouse, changing rooms, and field areas.
5. Looking After Equipment
  • Proper Use: Players and coaches are responsible for taking good care of all club equipment, including balls, training gear, and playing kits.
  • Maintenance: Equipment should be regularly checked for damage or wear and tear. If equipment is damaged, it must be reported to the club’s equipment manager to ensure it is repaired or replaced.
  • Respect for Shared Resources: All players and coaches must respect the club's resources and only use equipment for its intended purpose.
6. Promoting a Good Attitude Towards the Referee
  • Respect for Officials: Players, coaches, and parents must demonstrate respect for referees and match officials at all times. Disrespect, verbal abuse, or questioning of decisions in an inappropriate manner will not be tolerated.
  • Positive Encouragement: Coaches will encourage players to respect and understand the decisions made by referees. A positive attitude will help develop the player’s sportsmanship and understanding of the game.
  • Model Behaviour: Coaches and club leaders must model good behaviour by maintaining a respectful attitude towards referees and ensuring this message is passed on to players.
7. We Don’t Lose, We Only Win and Learn
  • Growth Mindset: Every match is an opportunity for growth. Whether we win or lose, we learn valuable lessons. Coaches will encourage players to embrace challenges, focusing on the areas they can improve.
  • Resilience: Players will be taught the importance of resilience and mental toughness. Losing is seen as part of the learning process, and the ability to bounce back stronger is key to personal and team development.
  • Reflection: After every match, players and coaches will engage in constructive reflection. We will celebrate successes, but also honestly address areas for improvement.
  • Supportive Team Culture: A positive and supportive team culture will be cultivated, where mistakes are seen as opportunities to grow and team members support each other’s learning journey.
