Before You Travel

Complete the following steps before leaving for Canada:

  1. Contact Bayside Rugby Club
    Email [email protected] to discuss your interest and begin the recruitment process.
  2. Learn About the Working Holiday Visa
    Understand how the Canadian Working Holiday Visa works. (Read more)
  3. Check Your Eligibility
    Confirm that you qualify for the International Experience Canada (IEC) Working Holiday Visa. (Read more)
  4. Application Steps:
    1. Create an online profile through the IRCC system.
    2. Enter the IEC pool and wait for an Invitation to Apply (ITA). (Read more)
    3. If you are selected, you have 10 days to accept and 20 days to submit your application with the required documents.
    4. Pay the application and biometrics fees.
    5. If approved, receive a Port of Entry (POE) letter to enter Canada.
  5. Health Insurance: Health insurance is mandatory for all Working Holiday Visa participants in Canada and must cover the entire duration of your stay. See https://www.truetraveller.com/ for pricing
  6. Proof of Funds: You must provide proof of at least CAD $2,500 in support funds to apply for the Working Holiday Visa.
  7. Budget for Airfare
    Plan and save for your flight to Canada. (For Elite and Marquee players, work with the Recruitment director on flights)
  8. Arrange Accommodation
    Work with the Bayside Director of Rugby to organize your housing before you arrive.
  9. Plan Your Employment
    Discuss job opportunities and employment options with the Director of Rugby
  10. Coordinate Your Arrival
    Once your visa is approved, let Bayside know so we can help plan your arrival.
  11. Book Your Flight
    Purchase your airfare and send Bayside your travel itinerary and arrival details.
  12. Pack Your Bags!
    You're almost ready for your Bayside adventure. You are coming for 12 months, not a 2 week holiday, so plan a little for that.

When You Arrive

We'll help make your transition as smooth as possible.

  1. Airport pickup by a Bayside club member.
  2. Transport to your new accommodation and help you get connected to Wi-Fi.
  3. Tour of your new home away from home—our Bayside clubhouse.
  4. Meet your teammates, coaches, and club executives.
  5. Apply for your Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  6. Open a Canadian bank account.
  7. Get a Canadian mobile phone number.
  8. Help you settle into your new job.
  9. Enjoy your first Guinness with the team.
  10. Pull on the Bayside jersey and start playing rugby!
