Bayside Junior Girls update

Bayside Girls program started off the year with record numbers of young sharks! We have over 75 players in the program and more joining every week.

We started with 3 weeks of 7s jamborees facing our friends and rivals from Langley RFC, Abbotsford RFC, United RFC and Capilano. We’ve traded wins and losses with these teams and seen a great boost in both our team performance on the pitch and the development in individual sharks through various academies and BC Bear programs in the off months since PRCs.

We have a couple weeks now to shift into 15s mode and prepare for the main season which starts October 15th at the shark tank.

Especially exciting this season is that it’s a lead in to a Tour in March 2024. The sharks will be swimming across the Pacific to the rugby epicenter in Auckland, NZ! There we will play and train with top level clubs and rumor has it may meet some Rugby World Cup champion Black Ferns. Over 12 days we will tour Auckland, Rotorua and Whangarei. This will be an incredible adventure for these young women.

Please stay tuned for upcoming events and fundraisers and help send our girls team off on this amazing experience they will never forget.

Bayside Junior Boys update

The season training officially commenced in mid-August, and the atmosphere is buzzing with excitement and anticipation. We’re thrilled to have over 125 dedicated male athletes across our U14, U16, and U18 age groups ready to take the field by storm. This season promises to be one for the record books!

U16 and U18: The Dynamic Duos – Team Mako and Team Hammerhead:

In the U16 and U18 categories, we have the privilege of witnessing not one, but two remarkable teams—Team Mako and Team Hammerhead. These teams represent the essence of excellence and sportsmanship, embodying the spirit of their namesakes. Under the expert guidance of our dedicated coaching staff, both teams have been fine-tuning their skills and fostering strong bonds among teammates. The determination and drive of these young athletes are truly inspiring.

Exhibition Season: Diving In with Friendly Matches:

The season began with a splash as we embarked on an exhibition season featuring four exhilarating “friendly” games. The U16 and U18 Team Mako faced off against the formidable Ravens, while Team Hammerhead went head-to-head with the Meralomas. These games provided the perfect opportunity for our athletes to showcase their talent, teamwork, and dedication. The competitive spirit was palpable, and the games were a testament to the hard work put in during training.

With over 125 male athletes, our program continues to grow and thrive, thanks to the unwavering support of our athletes, their families, and our passionate coaching staff. It’s through this collective effort that we’re able to nurture talent and foster a sense of community that extends beyond the field.
