President’s 2016 New Year Message

This past year has been significant in our Club development.  We have made strides towards acting as a “Club” in preference to teams within separate silos.  Rugby is about camaraderie, inclusiveness, and teamwork.  As the on-field success cannot be achieved by an individual alone; the organization and commitment to collaboration is priority.

Over 2015 we have been able to establish the roots of a Social Committee, a Medical Committee, an Equipment Manager, a Fields Manager, a Merchandise Manager, a Bar Manager, and a Food Manager.  This is in addition to the established Executive and Director positions and the On-field staff of Coaches and Managers.

The holiday season is often referred to as the “Season of Giving”.  As we look forward to turning the calendar to 2016, I wanted to thank everyone, especially our volunteers, for their tremendous commitment in 2015.  Without this unselfish dedication, the current achievements of the Bayside Athletic Association would not have been realized.  The year was not without its challenges but because of the passion, enthusiasm and hard work of our volunteers we are a stronger “Club” organization today.

We should all be proud of the efforts everyone has provided.  One of the fruits of everyone’s labours is the development and recruitment of financial supporters to a well structured and reliable association.  It is a great pleasure to include Coast Capital Savings, Jimmy Flynn’s Celtic Snug, Original Joe’s, Panago Pizza, Hamish Ross – Sutton Realty, Prestige Contracting, Eagle West Cranes, Coastal Floors Direct, Woodfibre ING, Allegra Printing, the Mittermaier Family, Griff Building Supplies, DHX, and Boston Pizza in the financial goals of Bayside Athletic Association.  I would like to sincerely thank these organizations and individuals for their steadfast and welcomed support.

We are constantly on the outlook for helping hands and leadership positions to promote and encourage our “Club” mentality.  Whether a player or supporter of the Mini, Junior, Senior Women, Senior Men, or Old Boys program we encourage all to be involved with the overall development of the Bayside Rugby Club throughout the year.  We are a Community organization and require the involvement of the Rugby community to accomplish our objectives.

Best wishes to all for a happy and safe holiday season, and a healthy and prosperous New Year.  It has been an absolute pleasure to work with everyone involved with the Bayside Athletic Association.

Here’s to continued successes in 2016!

NEW SENIOR MEN’S 2nd TEAM COACH

It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce that Mr Lee Sullivan has accepted the offer to coach the Senior Men’s 2nd Team, effective immediately.

Lee has explained he sees his role as providing good quality organization for the Men’s 2nd team to allow ample entertaining and enjoyable playing time on and off the field for all those committed to Bayside Rugby.  He is also very mindful of his role to assist the Men’s 1st Team coach, Mr Rob Verelli, with the development and identification of players for the Men’s 1st Team.

The Executive, Club Management and Coaching staffs are very excited to have Mr Sullivan in this role.  Mr Sullivan’s long time commitment to the Bayside Athletic Association as a player and coach at all levels – Junior, Senior, and Representative – bode well for the ongoing development of Bayside Rugby.

On behalf of everybody in our organization, I welcome Mr Lee Sullivan to his new and critical role within the Club.

URGENT: CLUBHOUSE SURVEY

It would be appreciated if you would complete, by Nov 23/15, the Surrey Parks and Rec survey at:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8STBDDY.

This is extremely important for our clubhouse construction.  Also, please consider forwarding the link to as many friends and family of Bayside Athletic Association as possible to complete the survey.

Please place this link on as many social media sites as you can access. We must also let you know that, seeing as to how many people buy subscribers on YouTube from Marketing Heaven, we’ve done our fair bit in promoting this content.

While many have completed this annual survey in the past, and even though our project is in the development phase, it is still extremely important to have another good response from the Rugby community. The importance of this survey cannot be understated or the response underestimated.

The 2 week survey ends Nov 23/15. Time is of the essence. Please notify all of urgency to respond

The last survey we had 268 responses (96 adults, 172 youth).  Let’s reach a goal of 500.

Critical questions worthy of comment are:

9. How satisfied are you with the “availability” of washroom facilities in Surrey’s athletic parks.

11. Would you support and make use of concession services in the park if they were available?

15. How satisfied are you with the customer service, provided by City staff, in relation to general inquiries, field booking information or response time to reported issues? – Delay in the start of construction

16. Please rank the following items in order of importance based on what you feel are the most important issues in Surrey Parks; #1 washroom and changing room availability.  Any comments regarding the club house would be beneficial

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IT IS EXTREMELY APPRECIATED
